Background: The only son of Slade and Ayer Lake, Kavian spent his childhood in the lap of luxury. With the two heads of the Thieves Guild for parents, he had a lot of time to watch his folks break in and out of mansions and palaces. The Lake family didn't have a huge amount of land, per se, but they owned their immediate surroundings in a real, yet hands-off sense.

Kavian has learned the trade better than anyone could have imagined. After many successful years working in the shadows, carefully picking through drawers and pinching gold deposits, Kavian grew dissatisfied with the challenge of his work. He switched his career for a short time. This was a mistake. He's sarcastic, ruthless, and generally black-hearted. Nothing I love more than an alter ego.

The Damsel: Savannah Vice

Background: There's always one person in a crowd wearing a frown. When Savannah's in a crowd, there's always two. Although possibly the least influential person in the Village of Fate, Savannah has studied very hard in the arcane lore of Plot Progression. She fiercely disagrees with the current methods imposed by the Council and seeks to create her own Story.

Recently Savannah met up with the hero of this story, Aerimus Apprehender. As predicted, he came to rescue her in Inflammable Village, which Kavian has neatly torched. Savannah's fantasies about Aerimus have always been rather idealistic. When she's not making Kavian's life a living hell, Savannah is usually bored out of her mind. It's unfortunate on several levels that she met Aerimus...

The Hero: Aerimus Apprehender

Background: Born in the Village of Fate and relocated to Grassytown when it was declared he would be the Hero, Aerimus has never known his parents. Nor true love, deceit, the meaning of life, or why he passes out every time he tries to see how long he can hold his breath.

The only thought in his head concerns justice, fate, and destiny. Or a combination of the three Aerimus likes to call "Jaftiny." When the time comes, Aerimus will be called upon to save the world from Kavian's villiany. Let's hope he can remember which end of the sword to hold.

The Henchwoman: Lysandra Lake

Background:Lysandra "Lyssie" Lake joined the Lake family five years ago. She was stolen on her 16th birthday, which also coincided with her wedding. In the medieval world, there's no time to waste. Lyssie was held for $5,000,000 ransom over a period of three days. Then Kavian unknowingly broke into her family's house and stole the money they would have used to pay for her return.

Now Kavian is obligated to keep Lyssie: the family can't pay the ransom, so he cannot return the girl. Lyssie spent her time in Kavian's room reading his books on stealing, infiltrating, and forgery (originally she wanted to be called "Larceny"). She's a member of the Lake family, a talented pickpocket, and the only thief on the planet who hides daggers and Pixy Sticks in her sleeves.

Lyssie is Kavian's first henchperson, out to spread evil and dissent among the populace. Or flowers and kittens, as Lyssie would prefer. There's something very wrong about signing death threats with the i's dotted with hearts.
