#7 - The Webcomic at the End of the Universe

Comic #007

Too Obscure For You?

Although, in the second frame, the archer woman is pissed that Kavian would be disturbing the natural order of the universe by barging into the Forest of Fate, Kavian isn’t concerned with that at all. His comment of “It’s a nice change of pace” in the third frame is a reference to the first comic, where he’s marched offscreen with a sword to his back. It’s a nice change of pace to be able to order and optionally poke someone else around, isn’t it?

The village that Kavian’s about to ransack… er, visit, is certainly not named “Nasaltown.” This, and the odd green blob, is a pretty blatant reference to “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” a wonderful four-book sci-fi trilogy by the late Douglas Adams. There’s a fictional race described in these books that are basically green booger people, but the phrase “The Coming of the Great White Handkerchief” should be a direct quote from one of the books. The title of this comic is taken from the second book in the series, “The Restaurant at the End of the Universe.”
