Too Obscure For You?

I have a fascination with those old Herbal Essences commercials where the woman is nearly having an orgasm in the shower. Does that appeal to women at all? As a guy I was suckered in by Gilette’s Mach 3 commercials. You know, the one where the ripped guy is sleeping in bed with his hot wife and a plane zooms overhead at (supposedly) mach three. The guy awakes, emboldened, and confidently goes to shave. That was the first commercial where I distinctly felt a tug to get off the couch and go purchase a product. I was compelled. Wierd, huh?

Who created that silhouette in the tower’s wall? None other than Duke Phillips from one of my favorite TV shows, The Critic. The word “duketastrophe” comes from Duke’s close relationship with Noah Webster, in conversations such as this: “What about that other word I invented: dukelicious? … No one’s using it? What a duketastrophe.”
